About the Sea Turtles
Our teachers support families as their infants transition to solid foods, helping to create schedules that meet each child’s individual needs. We maintain open and consistent communication with families throughout this important first year of life.
Curriculum & Daily Activities
Our infant curriculum includes story time, music and movement, and sensory experiences designed to support early development and exploration.
We artfully guide them through the perils of stranger and separation anxiety. The teachers help increase their communication skills by teaching them sign language.
Environment
Our little ones are provided with a safe and nurturing environment that encourages exploration and supports their development. Toys and learning materials are thoughtfully displayed throughout the classroom in inviting ways that inspire curiosity and independent discovery. As they grow and gain confidence, we gently and carefully guide their first steps, celebrating each milestone along the way.
Developmental Milestones
By 12 months, babies will:
Play games with you like pat-a-cake
Wave “bye-bye”
Calls a parent “mama” or “dada” or another special name
Understands “no” by pausing briefly or stopping when you say it
Puts something in a container, like a block in a cup
Looks for things they see you hide, like a toy under a blanket
Pulls up to stand
Walks, holding on to furniture
Drinks from a cup without a lid as you hold it
Picks things up between thumb and pointer finger such as small bits of food
Why Scripps Exploring Academy?
At Scripps Exploring Academy, our infants have separate classrooms. This also allows the staff to create a dynamic learning environment for this less busier age group. We strive to have excellent parent communication and build strong relationships with our families so we can partner in your child’s development, education, and care.
